The job of radiologic technologists and radiologic technicians is to perform diagnostic imaging examinations such as magnetic resonance imaging, x rays, mammography and magnetic resonance imaging and are usually referred to as radiographers by most people. They first of all brief the patient about the entire process, remove any metal object such as jewellery or any other article which may obstruct the passage of x rays during the procedure, and have the patient position himself in such a way that the parts of the body which need to be checked can be radiographed accordingly.

In order to limit exposure to radiation, they are also required to undertake certain precautionary measures such as protecting the surroundings using protective gears and lead shields, and also control the emission of the x ray beam.
