First thing’s first, let’s define what the work of a radiologist is. A radiologist together with a radiology technician and technologist is the person responsible for doing examinations for diagnostic imaging such as MRI, mammography, computed tomography, and also, x rays. Other works include keeping records of the patient, maintaining and adjusting the equipment, performing complex imaging exams or procedures, among others.
Based on statistics way back in 2008, there are a total of 214,700 jobs. Approximately, 61% of the total number of jobs created was rendered in hospitals while the rest were in a physician’s office, laboratories both diagnostic and medical, and lastly, outpatient care centers.

It is by far a lucrative one and with always increase as the years’ pass by and in consonance with a radiologist’s skills, training, and years of experience. Simply put, to those who want to earn more than the average salary of a radiologist it is highly advisable to equip oneself with all the necessary educational advancement, training and certification. This will help boost up one’s credentials and opportunity to earn a higher salary bracket that only a few can get.
Again, a radiologist salary would always be tentative and dependent upon the radiologist’s experience and skills. The more skills and highly experienced he is, the more he will be expecting to earn more than what others are receiving. For those who just started out, the radiologist salary will be more or less at its lowest. But this will slowly increase when backed up with proper training, education and the like.
Bottom line, the salary of radiologist is one of the most lucrative yet competitive in medical related jobs aside from surgeons, physicians, and the like. The job is not as stressful and mind boggling. All it takes is to have proper knowledge and be skillful enough in operating the machine and equipment used when it comes to diagnostic imaging exams.
